
Qigong
Qiqong (pronounced as ‘chi gung’), also known as ‘Chinese yoga’, is a Chinese system of health exercises which dates back thousands of years. Literally translated, it means something like “exercise of life force”. Primarily being a system of physical exercises, aimed at generating good health, it has always been closely connected to ones spiritual or mental development.
The exercises that are practiced, are relaxed, performed slowly and focused, and are based on meditative body postures. Besides that, breathing action and meditation itself are important components.
Becoming aware of, reinforcing and regulating the ‘Qi’ or life force is central in training Qiqong. Regular practice is beneficial to health in general, the respiratory system, feeling at ease, enhancing concentrative capacity, levelling up sensitivity and more, and can in that way facilitate new angles of regarding body, soul and life itself.
